How TinySteps Works

One activity per day. Five minutes. No special supplies. Here is how TinySteps turns a small daily moment into meaningful developmental support for your child.

1

Open the app

Each day, TinySteps selects one activity personalized to your child's age and developmental stage. Open the app to see today's suggestion.

2

Do the activity

Follow the step-by-step instructions. Activities take about five minutes and use common household items. No prep, no cleanup, no stress.

3

Rate how it went

After the activity, share quick feedback. Did your child enjoy it? Was it too easy or too hard? Your input helps TinySteps learn.

4

Come back tomorrow

Build a daily streak. Over time, track your child's progress across all six developmental domains. Watch the small steps add up.

The Recommendation Engine

Behind the scenes, TinySteps uses a thoughtful recommendation system to choose the best activity for your child each day. It considers your child's current age band, which of the six developmental domains have been covered recently, how your child responded to previous activities, and the difficulty progression within each domain.

The result is a balanced rotation that ensures your child gets exposure to fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, language, social-emotional, and sensory activities over time. You never have to think about which domain to focus on or whether you are missing something. TinySteps handles the planning so you can focus on the playing.

If today's activity does not feel right, you can swap it for a different one. Free users get one swap per day, and Premium users get unlimited swaps. Either way, you are always in control.

What Makes TinySteps Different

One per day, not a library to browse

Most apps give you hundreds of activities and leave you to decide. TinySteps makes the choice for you based on your child's specific needs, eliminating decision fatigue.

Research-backed, every single one

Every activity in our library of 600+ cites peer-reviewed research, AAP guidelines, or CDC milestones. You can see the exact source for each activity in the app.

Five minutes with stuff you already have

No subscription boxes. No special toys. Activities are designed around items like spoons, towels, cups, and your own hands. If an activity needs something you do not have, just swap.

Adapts to your child over time

Your feedback shapes future recommendations. TinySteps learns which domains your child gravitates toward and gently introduces activities in areas they have explored less.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does TinySteps choose my daily activity?

TinySteps uses a recommendation engine that considers your child's age, which developmental domains they have been active in recently, your feedback on past activities, and a balanced rotation across all six domains. The goal is to give you variety while ensuring well-rounded development.

Do I need special supplies or toys?

No. The vast majority of activities use common household items — things like spoons, towels, cups, or no materials at all. If an activity does require something specific, it is listed upfront so you can swap for a different activity if needed.

What if my child does not like the activity?

That is completely normal. You can swap for a different activity once per day on the free plan, or unlimited times with Premium. Your feedback helps TinySteps learn what works for your child.

Is TinySteps free?

Yes. The core experience — your daily activity, session feedback, and streak tracking — is free forever. Premium ($4.99/month or $29.99/year) unlocks the progress dashboard, full activity history, domain insights, and unlimited child profiles.
